WATTS FARM BOER GOATS
|
Our MissionWe believe the success of the Boer goat and meat goat industry is based on the successes of each individuals operation. We are dedicated to the success of our operation, as well as others.
Please allow us the opportunity to put some of our animals
to work for you. We bought our first Boer goats in Sept. of 1995.
Since that time we have increased our quality and our numbers to our present day
position. We have been one of the largest breeders of Fullblood Boer
and Percentage Boer goats in the Southeast. We have done several embryo
transplant programs, hosted buck semen collections, hosted an Artificial
Insemination class, hosted parasite training classes, hosted first Type
Conference conducted by the International Boer Goat Assoc., and hosted or
conducted many other seminars and field days. We also planned and oversaw
the development of a "state of the art goat facility" in the central US.
At our peak we ran 500+ producing does
meaning that we ran 1000-1500 goats at any given time. The experiences we
have encountered with such a large herd have been invaluable. Even with
our intended reduction of animals, we have gained a level of understanding that
few will ever encounter. We also hold one of the most successful and
extensive show records of any operation in our area. January of 2007 we
were forced to move our operation to a new location. Because of the move
and other changes in our lives we will be reducing our herd in 2007. We
fully intend to stay active in the goat business, only with fewer numbers, so
that we may pursue other interests.
Success has come through hard work, determination, and a desire to learn all we can about producing and marketing Boer goats, in the fastest growing agriculture enterprise found in Kentucky. Driven by the failures and disappointments we have experienced over the years, we are committed to putting our first hand experiences to work, for the good of the industry.
